First - I read a few reviews and seriously do not understand the negative ones. I guess we all read and get what we put into the words.Next - I have to say, although I don't have a basement or attic - it gave me time to rethink areas I had already done and make them better. I think I have been in the kitchen 3 times, and into my bathroom twice. When working in another area - I had an "ah-ha" moment and made changes in areas I had previously "completed." As I worked - I was inspired to think bigger, and more about what it was I was saving or managing. Some hidden things - I find I have more time. More time because I know where things are and where I should put them back to ... More cash, because with more organization - I can find things, and don't have to rebuy something - only to find 3 or 4 things just like it!I was also inspired to finally get rid of the heavy shelves and buy some sleek book shelves - and get rid of some things I'm done enjoying. (See pics) --- I had two heavy oak shelves on opposite walls, now I have calm floating shelves that highlight my travel and life treasures even better. Some inspiration - and lots of joy in accomplishment.I hope you have an open mind and an eager energy - you will love the work, and love the support the book gives you. I highly recommend. I love this book! I found the breakdown of the chapters to be excellent, and the suggestions for purging, cleaning, and organizing are great. Each chapter does have a "journal topic", and the book delves into some emotions-related things, which were a bit much for me, but might be great for others.The book has one chapter per month that covers some room/area of your life/home. I found that the chapters didn't jive in the order that worked best for me, so I just jumped around. There are a couple of chapters at the end about moving and entertaining/holidays that I found a bit unnecessary, I would've loved to instead focus on more parts of the house, but I supposed the point of the book is to organize life. However, a pattern did quickly emerge on how to conquer each area of the home, so certainly I can continue on my own.Certainly, this says a year- I live in a teeny tiny apartment, so I've been working through this much faster, but it's well laid out so people with big houses (or big organization tasks!) shouldn't feel too overwhelmed.I'd recommend this book to anyone!
